Congenital Peyronie's Disease
Congenital Peyronie's Disease, or Congenital Curvature, is an extremely rare condition present from birth, affecting fewer than 1% of men. It typically becomes noticeable around puberty or early adulthood and results from uneven development of the two chambers in the male anatomy. Unlike Peyronie's Disease, Congenital Curvature does not involve any build-up of fibrous plaque.

Understanding Congenital Curvature
Men with Congenital Curvature are not at greater risk for other men's health issues compared to the general male population. Unlike men with Peyronie's Disease, they will not experience hard lumps or toughened skin in the affected area.
In cases of Congenital Peyronie's Disease, there is an increased likelihood of a downward curvature, while Peyronie's Disease typically involves an upward curvature. However, the degree and direction of curvature can vary with each condition.
Patients with Congenital Curvature have the same likelihood of developing Peyronie's Disease as other men, though the curvature itself typically remains stable. If there is a concern that the curvature has changed over time, an assessment can be conducted at our clinic.
Congenital Curvature Surgery
If no fibrous plaque is present, focused therapy options such as shockwave therapy are not effective for this condition, leaving surgery as the primary treatment option, as outlined in our Peyronie's Disease treatment information.
Unlike with Peyronie's Disease, men with Congenital Curvature do not show increased risk for other health concerns or vascular issues.
